The Premier League made a welcome return after what felt like an everlasting international break for many and it returned with some remarkable results. Frank Lampard's young stars took control away to Wolves as all of Chelsea's scorers came from their prestigious academy, meanwhile Norwich provided one of the great upsets of recent years as they claimed an incredible victory over title favourites Manchester City. Tottenham ran riot against Crystal Palace scoring 4 in the first half, while their North London rivals imploded at Watford, throwing away a two goal lead at Watford, leaving fans questioning Emery and his tactics only five games into the season. Safe to say, it's been an eventful return....

Upsets Galore

Norwich City and Watford produced two stellar displays this week as they both took points from Manchester City and Arsenal respectively, with Norwich especially producing one of the most notable upsets in recent years. With two keepers on the bench due to several injuries, nobody gave Norwich a chance against the Champions, however what followed was nothing short of sensational.

Goals from McLean and Cantwell gave Norwich a shock two goal lead which was halved by Aguero shortly before the break with a clinical header. Norwich continued in the second half with their high spirits robbing Otamendi of the ball and scoring a third with none other than Temmu Pukki scoring the goal. From then to the end, it was all City as they showed ridiculous togetherness and compactness to restrict City to only one extra goal, a long range strike from Rodri. It was a performance that will go down in Norwich City history, and also one that owner Delia Smith would certainly be happier with than in previous meetings with City.

The other major upset, although seriously self-inflicted, was Watford's 2-2 draw with Arsenal. Arsenal took control of the first half strolling to a 2-0 lead at the break thanks to goals from their Gabonese talisman Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. However the second half display was arguably one of their worst in recent history as it left a lot to be desired. After Sokratis gave the ball away playing out the back and David Luiz conceded a penalty, Arsenal were pegged back to 2-2 and ended the game conceding 31 shots, the most against them since the stat was collected by Opta in 2004.

This was Watford's first point of the season and what a point it was too, showing amazing resilience and fighting spirit to overturn the half time deficit. New and returning manager Quique Sanchez Flores would certainly be delighted with the result while his opposite number has a lot of questions to answer for.

The Pride of London

With Crystal Palace having a notoriously good record away from home against the top teams and Wolves having a similar record at home against the top six, many would guess that an upset was definitely on the cards in these two fixtures. However, it turned out to be quite the opposite as both Spurs and Chelsea ran away clear winners against Palace and Wolves respectively.

A hattrick from Tammy Abraham, a long range stunner from defender Tomori and a final nail in the coffin from Mason Mount saw Chelsea clear 5-2 winners. However, the stand out feature of the game, along with Chelsea's season, was the success of their homegrown academy players. Every scorer for Chelsea in the league this season has come from their academy and credit must be given to Frank Lampard for having faith in his youngsters, however many would argue that if it wasn't for their transfer ban, these youngsters would never have got a chance.

All of Tottenham's four goals came in the first half as a double from Son, a Van Aanholt own goal and a Lamela strike compounded Palace's misery before the second half had even begun. It was a performance that people would more associate with Tottenham in recent years as this was the first time this season where the Tottenham team truly seemed sharp for an entire 90 minutes.

A summary of the rest

Manchester United 1-0 Leicester - An early Marcus Rashford penalty was enough to give United the win, however Leicester certainly could've taken something if they had been more clinical in front of goal.

Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle - After an early scare from Newcastle through a stunning Jetro Willems goal, Liverpool were able to secure all three points. A double from Mane and a third from Moh Salah after a glorious Firmino assist kept Liverpool the only team with a 100% record in the league.

Sheffield United 0-1 Southampton - The early signs seem to indicate that Southampton have unearthed another star as new signing Moussa Djenepo scored another amazing goal to give the Saints another good away win. The first ever Malian player in the Premier League ran straight through the heart of the United defence as he smashed the ball past the despairing Dean Henderson in goal.

Brighton 1-1 Burnley - A last minute strike from long range from Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick stole a point from Brighton after new signing Neal Maupay opened the scoring. The draw leaves both sides just one point above the relegation zone in what is a very tight bottom half of the table.

Bournemouth 3-1 Everton - Callum Wilson scores two on his return back from injury to secure all three points for the Cherries against a strong Everton side. A cross from Ryan Fraser which travelled all the way in cancelled out an excellent header from Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the end of the first half to push Bournemouth above their opponents and into 8th.

Aston Villa 0-0 West Ham - West Ham failed to take advantage of the opportunity to go 3rd in the table as they fell to a 0-0 draw at Villa Park. It was Villa who had some of the better chances with Jack Grealish in particular at the end failing to control a cross from the right. Masuaku also didn't help the situation when he was sent off for a second bookable offence, however there was some controversy about the incident as referee Mike Dean appeared to be slightly harsh on the full back.

Moment of the week

Without doubt, the moment of the week was certainly Norwich's victory over Manchester City as they upset all the odds to give City their first league defeat since January away at Newcastle. The sheer euphoria that erupted inside Carrow Road was magical and it's certainly a memory that will live long in the memories of those Norwich City fans, with manager Daniel Farke also getting emotional as he went round the pitch congratulating his players.

Player of the week

Winning two reports in a row, I think there can only be one winner for this and that is Tammy Abraham once again. The English forward bagged himself a hattrick to continue his fine form and make him the top scorer in the league, overtaking Norwich's Temmu Pukki. If Abraham continues performing like he has done in recent games then a call up for the National Team seems an almost certain prospect in the not so distant future for the 21 year old.
